A blog and forum for encouragement, hope and stories by Jiming Lindal

I start to think about the nice things in life. I remembered vividly a movie I saw together with my mother when I was in high school. It was an afternoon of a summer, my mother came by to my school and asked if I wanted to just take a walk with her together. My high school is located in one of the nice area of Shanghai where coffee shops, bakeries, and movie theaters are plenty. We really enjoyed the walk together just by browsing the boutiques on the streets. We stopped at one of the movie theaters and decided to see just a movie. Both my mother and I still remembered the name of the movie “stone ran creek.” It is about this woman who left the life of a city and went to a small village where there is a creek and beautiful trees. She started to write to her friends everyday about the everyday life in the village. Things are as small as picking up mail for the neighbors and someone saying hi to her. As days went by, she had a sizable journal and her friends were reading story by story and felt touched by it. I didn’t remember how the movie ended, but just remembered how beautiful the village is and how beautiful these people are.

It was the nicest thing my mother and I did together. She being a working mother as a director and producer hasn’t really formed a bond with me as much but this movie experience always brings me good memory of me being together with her and the beauty of the story.

When we all start to count nice things in life, it sometimes just brings back a moment or two, but so fulfilling that almost filled your whole moment with sweetness and love. Gentle, and clear.

What is your nice things in life? Do you want to share?

This brought back thoughts of my childhood, how safe I felt surrounded by my family and church friends. They were always a safety net for me whenever things did not go my way.
The happiest days of my life was when I stayed at home and took care of my children. Their lives were full of hope and they depended on me. I have so many memories that I will never be bored when I get quite and think of those days.
